Lilac Loons
The Lilac Loons are the pride of DL Youth Hockey — a fun, energetic, and supportive place for girls to skate, play, and grow their love for the game. Loons combine Termite- and Mite-aged girls into one program designed to build skills, confidence, and friendships that last.
Age Eligibility
Players should turn 4 years old by the start of the season in October.
Equipment
All equipment is provided free of charge — so just show up ready to skate!
Season Format
The Lilac Loons hit the ice in mid-October with practices on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday mornings. As the season rolls on, Saturdays become scrimmage days, giving players a chance to test their new moves and celebrate every goal.
Coaches and our Hockey Director group skaters by skill level to keep things fun, competitive, and challenging — with lots of puck touches and big smiles. These groups change throughout the season as players develop, grow, and gain confidence.
While the Loons are mostly in-house, our older girls may have a few chances each season for optional scrimmages or jamborees in nearby towns — always a highlight!
The Lilac Loons follow the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM) and Minnesota Hockey’s Development Model, focusing on the “Active Start” and “Fundamentals” stages of Long-Term Athlete Development.
Our approach is simple: fun first, skills second, and confidence always. That’s the DL Youth Hockey way.
