Hockey Gear Basics
Suit up for the Game - Full Gear Required
No shortcuts here—everyone hits the ice fully dressed for battle. Here’s what you need in your hockey bag:
- Helmet (HECC certified – protect the bucket!)
- Mouthguard (12U and up – keep that smile intact)
- Neck Guard (cover the pipes)
- Shoulder Pads (take the hits, keep rolling)
- Elbow Pads (for those trips into the boards)
- Gloves (hands stay safe, and ready to dangle)
- Cup or Pelvic Protector (Jock or Jill – non-negotiable)
- Hockey Pants (aka Breezers – suit of armor)
- Shin Guards (because pucks hurt)
- Hockey Socks (style and function)
- Hockey Skates (your wheels)
- Stick (your weapon of choice)
Suit up for the Crease - Full Goalie Gear Required
Goalies don’t just play the game—they stand tall in the line of fire. Every netminder must be fully equipped before hitting the ice:
- Goalie Mask/Helmet (HECC certified – protect the melon)
- Mouthguard (12U and up – chomp down and focus)
- Neck Guard (cover the throat)
- Chest Protector (your wall against rockets)
- Blocker (swat away the rubber)
- Catch Glove (flash the leather)
- Goalie Cup or Pelvic Protector (Jock or Jill – mission critical)
- Goalie Pants (extra padding where it counts)
- Knee Pads (save those joints)
- Leg Pads (your best friends in the crease)
- Goalie Skates (built for stance and slides)
- Goalie Stick (poke checks, paddle saves, and steering the play)
