15U Girls

This is the stage where skills sharpen, competition heats up, and players start to truly understand the game.

Age Eligibility

The Bantam and 15U Girls programs are designed for players generally ages 13–15.

Equipment

If you have equipment needs, our Equipment Manager is happy to help — no player should ever miss ice time for lack of gear.

Season Format

The Bantam/15U season launches in mid-October and runs through late winter. Early on, players participate in evaluations led by qualified, independent evaluators — experienced former players and coaches who are not affiliated with DLYHA or travel-level participants — ensuring a fair and unbiased process.

Each season, DLYHA typically fields multiple teams, such as Bantam A, Bantam B, and 15U B Girls, giving every athlete a competitive, development-focused experience that fits their skill level.

15U Girls usually practice in the evenings, with extra sessions added as desired to maximize development and ice time.

Travel & Competition

Travel games typically begin mid-season. The 15U Girls schedule averages around 35 games, with additional practice opportunities to balance competition and development.

Different levels may vary slightly in the number of tournaments, but the goal remains the same — the right mix of ice time, competition, and growth.

Player Development

This level represents USA Hockey’s “Train to Train” phase within the American Development Model (ADM) and the Minnesota Hockey Development Model, focusing on the physical, technical, and mental growth of players during these critical development years.

DLYHA’s development philosophy follows the USA Hockey Skills Progression for 14U–16/18U athletes — emphasizing speed, strength, game awareness, leadership, and teamwork.

At this stage, players start to lead by example, think the game at full speed, and represent DL Hockey with pride — both on and off the ice.

This is where all those early mornings, late nights, and long bus rides come together. This is Bantam and 15U hockey — the DL way.
