Coaches Registration

To coach with the Detroit Lakes Lakers, you must first complete your USA Hockey Coach Registration.

By clicking Register, you will be redirected to the USA Hockey registration page. After completing your USA Hockey registration, you will automatically return to finish your Detroit Lakes Lakers Coach Registration.

All coaches must complete the required USA Hockey registration and certification requirements before participating in any team activities.

All coaches are required to complete and pass a USA Hockey background screening.

• Background screenings are valid for two seasons.
• If you completed your screening last season, you do not need to complete it again this year.
• Only background screenings submitted through the USA Hockey Background Screening process will be accepted.

All coaches must complete the required USA Hockey SafeSport training.

• New coaches must complete the full SafeSport Training.
• Returning coaches must complete the annual SafeSport Refresher.
• SafeSport training must be completed before you can coach or supervise players in any capacity.

Complete the USA Hockey online Age-Specific Module(s) for the age level you will coach.

• Modules cost $10 each.
• Each age-specific module only needs to be completed once per age level.
• The lowest required module is 8U.
• You cannot participate in team activities or be added to a team roster until this requirement is complete.

All coaches are required to complete the appropriate USA Hockey Coaching Education Program (CEP) Certification.

• This requirement must be completed by December 31 of the current season.
• Register for and attend a USA Hockey Certification Clinic.
• The clinic fee is $55.
• Coaches may attend one clinic per season.
• All new coaches begin at Level 1.
• Clinics are offered April 1 through December 31 each season.
• Virtual (Zoom) clinics are available, and we typically have one or two in-person clinics in the Fargo area. We'll share local clinic information as it becomes available.
