Summer Skills Challenge
The Detroit Lakes Youth Hockey Summer Skills Challenge is designed to keep players active, improve puck skills, and encourage consistent practice throughout the offseason.
Challenge Dates
June 1 โ September 13, 2026
The Goal
Spend time practicing hockey outside of organized camps by developing strong daily habits. Track the minutes you spend:
- Shooting pucks
- Stickhandling
- Practicing in your driveway or at home
- Attending Jordy's Hockey Hangouts
- Any other individual skill development
Turn in your completed tracking sheet on Registration Night (September 13).
Grand Prize
The top performer at each age level will win a brand-new hockey stick of their choice! Players who reach the highest club level also earn the prizes from the previous levels.
Club Level & Prizes
๐ 700-Minute Club
Average: 10 minutes per day, 5 days per week
Prize: Official DLYHA Summer Skills Challenge T-Shirt
๐ 1,400-Minute Club
Average: 20 minutes per day, 5 days per week
Prize: Howie's Hockey accessory bag
๐ 2,100-Minute Club
Average: 30 minutes per day, 5 days per week
Prize: Custom DLYHA Green Biscuit off-ice stickhandling puck
Bonus Prize Drawings
Every club level you achieve earns you another entry into drawings for additional prizes, including: Bauer Mystery Minis, Lakers apparel, Lakes Sports Shop gift cards, and more! The more minutes you complete, the more chances you have to win.
Recognition
Participants will be recognized during a Detroit Lakes High School Hockey game during the 2026-27 season.
